This full day tour provides you with an unrivalled opportunity to visit the stunning and diverse vineyard landscapes of four premium wine villages – any of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Rasteau, Cairanne, Tavel, Lirac, Sablet and Séguret - and taste a selection of differing and exquisite wines from four leading wine estates. At most of the estates we visit I supply a small selection of cheese with which to taste and appreciate the wines.

Most of wine villages are within ten minutes drive of each other but the vineyard scenery varies enormously as you move from one wine village to the next. The full day tour offers you the perfect opportunity to appreciate how the changing terroir impacts the styles of wine that you taste.

In the morning we visit the vineyards and cellars of two top estates in Gigondas and one other wine village. After lunch, at your leisure, we visit the vineyards and cellar of a leading domaine in either Rasteau or Cairanne before heading off to Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Why does Châteauneuf-du-Pape lead all other Southern Rhône wine villages in terms of price and (supposed) quality? The answer can be found in this village’s unique vineyard “terroir”. Is Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s substantial reputation justified? You will be able to make up your own mind as we tour the vineyards and visit one of the village’s leading producers.

I work with the Inter-professional Association of Rhône growers (Inter Rhône) and I provide Rhône wine consultancy services for importers. What is the minimum group tour fee of 195 euros?
If you book a tour for two adults and no other guests join the tour (i.e. the tour ends up being private for the two of you) then the minimum group tour fee of 195 euros (cost for the two of you) would apply.

If however, you are joined by at least one other guest (creating a group of three or more) then the 70 euros per person fee would apply - thus a tour fee of 140 euros (2 x 70 euros) for two adults.

Lunch break:
I can recommend and book lunch for you at a restaurant/bistro in Gigondas. If we are four or more in the group we can have a food and wine matching lunch at one of the wine estates. Please contact me to discuss the options. The cost of lunch is excluded from the tour fees stated above.

Any Prior Wine Knowledge Required?

My tours cater for all wine-drinkers, from those you know very little about wine, to enthusiasts seeking to broaden their understanding. My relaxed and informal tours can be tailored to suit each individual, as introductory or as in-depth as you require.

If you are a veteran wine estate visitor and you have seen more than your fair share of wine-making cellars, I will tailor the tour accordingly!

Transport to the vineyards and the wine cellars

Village Meeting Point:
Tours commence from a designated meeting point in the first wine village. As we are normally small in number we group ourselves into one or two cars before visiting the vineyard parcels and the wine cellars. The travelling distances between the vineyards and the cellars are very short.

Own Transport Option:
You require your car to get to the first village meeting point. Wine Uncovered can collect up to 4 people from your residence free of charge if you are staying in or very local to the first wine village visited.

Chauffeured Option:
Wine Uncovered uses an air-con. minibus service that can collect up to 8 people from their residence and return them after the tour. Please contact me for a quote.
