Chateau de la Nerthe Châteauneuf-du-Pape Clos de Beauvenir White 2023

52% Roussanne, 48% White Grenache

Sandy-silt soils scattered with rolled pebbles bring finesse and aromatic expression to this Clos de Beauvenir White. The nearby presence of one of the appellation’s rare natural springs and centuries-old woodland creates a microclimate—hot by day but cool at night—that helps produce white wines of great character.

Shimmering golden colour with green highlights. The nose of the 2023 vintage from Château de la Nerthe’s Clos de Beauvenir reveals fresh white peach, lifted by almond and hazelnut, with subtle menthol and smoky notes. On the palate, freshness balances the gentle sweetness of nectarine, while well-judged ageing adds depth. Elegant and refined, this cuvée has a delicate finish and the potential to age gracefully for several years.

Producer profile

Château La Nerthe traces its origins to the Tulle de Villefranche family, who transformed a simple bastide into one of the Rhône Valley’s great estates, building the château, pioneering bottling, and sending their wines to the finest tables across Europe and even North America. After the phylloxera crisis, the property was revived by Commander Joseph Ducos, whose innovative grafting techniques restored Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s vineyards and helped establish what would become France’s first Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée, while also giving the appellation its enduring name. Today, under the stewardship of the Richard family, the estate has been restored and expanded, with a remarkable heritage of old vines and a full conversion to organic farming, certified since 1998. Château La Nerthe remains true to its legacy of excellence and innovation, preserving a unique heritage that is both viticultural and architectural.
