Producer profile

Domaine le Garrigue was established in 1850 and is now run by the 6th generation of the Bernard family Virginie Combe, David and Simon Bernard. The domaine cultivates 83 ha (211 acres) of vineyards, including 59ha in Vacqueyras, 3ha in Gigondas, 1ha in Beaumes de Venise (dry red wine), 11ha in Côtes-du-Rhône and 8ha under the IGP designation. The average age of vines is over 60 years old. The is one of the most traditional wineries that I know, with the expression of “terroir” at the core of almost everything that they do. As a result, they produce absolutely unique wines, vintage by vintage. Domaine la Garrigue use no chemicals in the vineyard and there is minimal intervention in the cellar so as to maximise the terroir expression in their wines – natural yeasts, selective de-stemming, no oak, no fining and no filtration. The reds are fermented and aged in concrete vats and the white iand rosé are fermented in stainless steel.
