New Appellation: Laudun Becomes the 18th Cru of the Côtes du Rhône
New Appellation: Laudun
After more than a decade of efforts and patience, a new star has risen in the constellation of the Côtes du Rhône wines. In 2024, the village of Laudun, already renowned for the quality of its wines, officially received recognition from the INAO (National Institute of Origin and Quality), achieving the prestigious status of a “cru.” Laudun now becomes the 18th cru of the Côtes du Rhône, joining such illustrious names as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, and Cairanne.
Located on the right bank of the Rhône, in the Gard region, the Laudun vineyard covers around 500 hectares. Its unique geography, with limestone plateaus and sun-drenched slopes, offers a diversity of soils that contribute to the richness of its wines, particularly its whites and reds. This new distinction rewards an ancestral expertise and a consistent commitment to quality.
With this recognition, producers hope not only to further enhance the value of their terroir but also to boost the visibility of Laudun wines internationally. For wine enthusiasts, this new appellation promises exceptional tasting experiences, true to the spirit of the Côtes du Rhône while bringing its own unique signature.
This is a historic moment for the vineyard and local winemakers, who see in this success the culmination of years of effort to refine their production and elevate their region’s reputation.
