Alain Voge St Péray Harmonie 2023/24

Marsanne

Biodynamic producer. The oldest vines on the estate and in the appellation, aged 80 years, are located in the cradle of the appellation above the village of Saint-Péray. This granite hillside mixed with limestone colluvium faces southeast. It overlooks the Château de Crussol and the limestone massif of the same name.

Created in 2001, this cuvée is a harmonious blend of the three plots. The thirty-year-old vines produce a very attractive Saint-Péray, full of generosity and finesse. Citrus and floral notes are supported by a lovely freshness.

Producer profile

Lionel Fraisse is the nephew of Robert Fraisse, a winemaker from Saint-Péray. His family roots are therefore in winegrowing, in the Saint-Péray area, which meant he was familiar with the vineyards from childhood. Before joining the Alain Voge estate, Lionel Fraisse had a different career, notably in academic publishing. In 2012, he arrived at Domaine Alain Voge, first as an apprentice and then as Albéric Mazoyer’s assistant. He took over the full management of the estate in 2018, succeeding Albéric Mazoyer. Director/head winemaker since 2018, Lionel Fraisse oversees all production, from the vineyard to the winemaking process. He leads a team of around ten people (depending on the year), given the level of attention required for manual cultivation on steep slopes. Lionel is committed to organic and biodynamic viticulture: the Alain Voge estate has been certified organic since around 2016 and is increasingly working according to biodynamic principles. Lionel Fraisse seems to have a vision that combines tradition (respect for the terroir, manual attention, rigorous winemaking) and modernity (reduction of new wood, use of new technologies, desire for more assertive maturity).
