Domaine André Berthet-Rayne Cairanne Vieilles Vignes Red 2023

Majority Grenache with Syrah & Carignan

Biodynamic grower. Clay, limestone. The average age of these vines is 60 years. The average yield is 30 hectolitres per hectare.

Destemmed harvest. Traditional fermentation and maturation in concrete vats.

The nose reveals powerful notes of black fruits and spices, then blackberry, a touch of cassis and blueberry quickly take over. Then, as it breathes, powdery aromas of cocoa beans and balsamic notes complete the bouquet.

Complexity and richness characterise both the nose and the palate. Powerful but well-controlled tannins combines with the sweetness of old Grenache vines.

Producer profile

Biodynamic grower. The history of the estate began with André’s great-grandparents, Charles and his wife, who cultivated 6 hectares of vines at the end of the 19th century. In addition to the vines, they also cultivated a few plots of olive trees and agricultural land, typical of farms at the time. This diversity laid the foundations for a wine-growing business that the family, over the generations, has continued to develop and enrich with expertise passed down from father to son and now to daughter. The estate now cultivates 31 hectares of vineyards. An agroforestry project will be implemented, aiming to enrich biodiversity and strengthen the sustainability of their viticultural practices.
