Domaine Brusset Côtes du Rhône Sans Sulphites 2023

Grenache, Mourvèdre

Very stoney clay and sand.

A wine that is produced will no sulphites added to the wine. Why? To let the fruit flavours shine through. The nose reveals floral notes of peony immediately followed by dark berries, ripe strawberries and some liquorice spices. On the palate, this ample, well-balanced and harmonious wine, with silky tannins and pure fruitiness, offers a long finish of freshness and pepper.

This is a very good wine to enjoy with friends, with a home-made wild boar terrine, a shoulder of lamb with thyme, a beef carrot, a rib of beef with home-made chips, a couscous or a cantal.

Producer profile

André Brusset started growing grapes in 1929 as was a founding member of the cooperative of Cairanne. André commenced the production of his own wines in 1947 with 13 ha of land in Cairanne. André’s son, Daniel joined him in 1966 and a new concrete vat cellar was installed in 1972. In 1986, Daniel Brusset purchased bought 40ha of Gigondas AOC in Dentelles hills. The land required a significant amount of restructuring and terracing with 19ha now planted with vines. Their Gigondas terroir is south-facing where much of Gigondas AOC is north to north-west facing and the soils are very rocky with high degree of limestone. André Brusset’s grandson, Laurent started at the domaine in 1989. Today, the Domaine cultivates and produces wines from 19 ha in Gigondas, 38 ha in Cairanne, 23 ha in Cotes du Rhone (near Mondragon) and 5 ha in Ventoux (near Carpentras).
