Domaine du Trapadis Rasteau Cuvée Les Adres 2020

80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 10% Carignan.

Biodynamically grown. Clay-limestone parcels of vines between 40 and 80 years old. The deep roots old vines and varied terroir bring a nice complexity to this wine. Soils are predominantly clay, limestone and stones but vary in content.

The palate is fleshy and spicy, with delicious notes of red fruit, laurel and wild herbs and a hint of roasted coffee. It is a silky, full-bodied red that is a perfect blend of maturity and freshness and best accompanies richer winter dishes.

Producer profile

Domaine de Trapadis is certified organic and biodynamic and cultivates 35-hectare parcel in and around Rasteau. Trapadis means ‘hole’ in Provençal and refers to the underground gallery where the spring that feeds the hamlet gushes out. Helen Durand now runs the family estate, which was founded in 1850. Helen Durand was only 16 at the time, and was already selling his first bottles in 1990. Helen Durand shifts the vegetative cycle of the grapes so that phenolic ripeness is synchronised with alcoholic ripeness. The ecosystem is optimised by the natural flora and fauna, optimising the root system at depth and thus providing good resistance to external attacks. The different terroirs are vinified separately, and the winemaking is gentle to encourage infusion rather than extraction. Every effort is made to produce wines that are dense yet elegant, delicate and long-lasting.
