Les Chemins de Sève Cairanne Cuvée Apanage 2020

Old vines Grenache, Syrah

The grapes for this wine come from a single plot in an area known as ‘Le Chemin des Partides’ on the alluvial terrace between Cairanne and Sainte-Cécile-les-Vignes. The calcareous-sandy soil has a high proportion of rounded pebbles (up to 50%), ensuring excellent drainage. The vines are 75 years old and come from old propagations.

This wine is aged entirely in oak barrels for 10 to 15 months.

Its dense purple colour, light nose of truffle, black fruit and violet enhanced by leather, and its rich, powerful and balanced palate, subtly chocolatey with roasted notes, long and dense.

Apanage pairs well with game, red meat, stuffed meat and spicy dishes with sauce.

Producer profile

This small domaine was created in 2010 by Loic and Caroline Massart when they purchased 9 ha of vineyards in the cru of Cairanne. The vines have been grown organically from the outset and some of the vines are over 80 years old. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand into 20 kg crates. Loic and Caroline attach great importance to respecting the environment, the soil and the vines. This same philosophy is applied in the cellar, producing very low intervention wines where patience and gentle, persevering mechanical work are paramount.
